It appears glitchy mechanical movement problems could be going away soon: Engadget: artificial muscle. Hopefully no more servos with stepper motors that jump into each position or hydraulics that can't really be accurately controlled and are prone to leaking.

Doesn't look like it can exert much force yet, but way better than anything I've seen before.

This could be useful for simulating facial expressions, which is something that I think would be very important.

I found a nice example on youtube.
This channel the old man uses flexinol, fast movement is possible. Can handle load too
