aiko questions ... Empty No new skin yet.

I don't think he's gotten to v2's body yet, so she has no new skin.
If I'm not mistaken, the project started in the summer of 2007, and showcased in the fall of 2007.
It was a rush job that had a premade silicone body (sex doll), but the BRAINS software was already made anyway.

Aiko can't write yet. Her fingers are made of cardboard (because of cost) and aren't strong enough to hold the pen to write.

Trung plans to redesign the hand and and make a plasic prototype. If the new hand works good he plans to make the hand out of metal.

If you would find something simpler, this one is too complicated and not really suited for DIY. Something where you just connect mini servos with fingers through wires would be great.

Yes, that's great. That's the principle I imagined, it's very simple but quite effective. Now just add a wire to control the thumb in a 2nd axis.

That metal can carry a chair, in case you are wondering.
It's about my size. a bit big for aiko hand.

fingers might be the right size, but typing would require a bit of precision. she should be able to manage two finger pecking, but proper typing form is a ways in the future methinks.
and why have a robot type? they use computer brains, why not just ave them connect to the computer? surely a simple program could be written to allow one computer to connet to another and type documents...but, then again, you could just dictate to the robot, or it could create a document on its own, then just send it to a printer-the second computer seems to add another step in a simplifiable process.
if we have robots, as say, office assistants, wouldn't it be more logical for them to also BE the computer, not type on one?
