hmm
Cooling can also be done with conventional water cooling for computers, only that longer tubing if required

hallo their
i have a suggestion why dont he use a mini laptop instead of his laptop and a mini laptop can be fitted in aiko

mini laptop won't be as powerful as a regular laptop. just to give a guess as to why.
Re: Keeping Aiko cool
then i have one questions
1-can aiko software be installed in mini laptop
since mini laptops is getting more powerful by the time .
another thing , my friend has a mini laptop it dont have much heat
maybe it better than water cooling

as in a netbook? while they do have less heat, they also are not as powerful.
the atom processor most use is simply not quite as powerful as a regular laptop processor.
most likely it could be installed. the software should run on any computer that has a compatible OS (it might work on windows and linux, but maybe not on mac)
Re: Keeping Aiko cool
no other currently effective solution.spring wrote:so their is no solution other than water cooling
but as computers do gain power, a smaller computer would be viable-but with a big flaw.
the smaller and closer together the transistors in a chip get, the worse the heat dissipation is. and with more and more per chip, there is even more heat. which is why laptop chips are less powerful than pc chips-the heat would be too great.
computers that require many chips commonly use chips at processes larger than 100nm (nanometers). your computer uses 64nm or smaller.
so a laptop is merely a good balance currently. who knows how things will be in a few years? there will most likely be a better alternative by then.
Re: Keeping Aiko cool
i see
i wonder if we put two or three main boards in aiko that may decrease the cpu uses
and that means less heat
maybe heat sink is also required
the thing that im afraid from water cooling is , A LEAK IN THE PIPES
when that happen the main board will short out

3M makes several cooling fluids designed for submerged use. take a look at those and those systems.spring wrote:i see

Cooling everything for circuitry, mineral oil can be used
http://www.pugetsystems.com/submerged.php
Well using cooling from water cooling may just work for moving cooler oil around
But does that makes Aiko oil heavy if she is completely filled.

Re: Keeping Aiko cool
i got it you are going to use this system on the main board only
not the whole aiko
not the whole aiko

Re: Keeping Aiko cool
right. no sense in unneeded weight and complexity-just cool off what needs cooling.spring wrote:i got it you are going to use this system on the main board only

actually, i think the idea was discussed and how to apply it was discussed in this thread. try going through the pages of this thread, it should be there.
but, just use water-tight containers around the items that need cooling, hook them together, and pump the oil through that.
have a radiator in a convenient spot, and use either natural convection of a fan to cool the oil.
Why not simulate biology?
First: I don't understand about computer, but I understand about biologic procesess.
Why don't simulate breathing?
It would be a conjunct of liquid freezing and pumping air inside and outside.
It can be constructed a motor and an artificial diafragma muscle made of silicone inside her belly.
She can use nostrils, mouth and ears ( as somebody has already told here).
I don't thing that a cooling hole in the top of the head would be nice, bacause her hair would be constantly floating in her top ( not visualy nice).
With this artificial diafragma and the circulation of fluid ( don't know the kind of fluid) would be perfect and she would simulate breathing becoming more natural to see.
1)sorry about mispelings but English is not my natural lenguage.
2) I am a girl, so my interests are about a Man-Aiko. But it's obvious that if Le can build a small body, he will be able to buid a biger one ahahah so I'll allways try to help

well, remember that every addition construction takes up space, and space is severely limited.
aesthetically, the breathing would be the best, but it would be the hardest to do. a simpler fan and cooling radiator would combine some of the benefits of the breathing with the benefits of efficient cooling.
processors make a lot of heat, and having air flowing at a breathing rate wouldn't dissipate the heat as effectively.
Fan + radiator
Hi again.
Yes, it seems that a fan and a radiator is the solution. But is there any radiators of a enough small size ?
Second: Do you think nostrils and mough will be enough to put warm air outside? And what about air inside?
Remember that silicon is also used in cooking to preserve heat. So Aiko made of silicon is actually a preserver of heat.
So there would be a need of constantly replace fresh air.
I just can't imagine refreshing oppenings in her back just like a car... It would look creepy. That's why I said about breathing. Maybe one solution is just combine radiator, fan and a way to put fresh air inside. But what way?
Very interesting issue

Re: Keeping Aiko cool
it's more of an airflow rate issue.
like a blower almost
you need a high CFM (cubic foot per minute, aka flow rate) to cool down an area. a lower flow rate could be used if her mouth wasn't to restrictive to airflow.
get what i'm saying?

Re: Keeping Aiko cool
Then invent other air/heat flows..
One idea of mine is having lots of 1mm holes at the hair area. It would have to be posh pull air flow. very unrealiable - hard to do but possible.
Two is trying to radiate heat to every part of Aiko's body (don't know how this will work out). Airflow for breathing simulation will still have to be low cfm- like 10-20
Three will get very complicated, as you filled her with mineral oil, or . With some kind of flow management, its possible.
Radiate the heat through out the body will let the actual body acts as the heatsink. Now we can take more amount of heat with lesser air flow from breathing.
But then to overcome overheating issues, processing power need to be throttled, same with airflow.

Isn't her skin made of silicone? That stuff is a heat proof material, I believe. Same stuff used in spatulas and other cookware. my fill with oil idea was to only have certain components submerged. like water cooling in a computer.
the mouth and nose ideal for ventilation is probably best. putting the air intake under her hair could potentially block it, burning up components, and the exhaust under the hair would look indescribably strange.
Re: Keeping Aiko cool
You can submerge electrical component into mineral oil without getting short circuits. But yes there will have to be waterblocks pump to the radiators that is completely submerged inside aswell. Here instead of Air flow to raiators. In Aiko the oil act as air in water cooling setup
Too bad that any flexible material have low thermal conduct from its low density properties. To conduct heat thu the silicone effectly, filled with mineral oil is the only option I could think of.
And the hair Idea, I agrees that it would look really strange XD. It would definitely work for Air-out only.
If the bone of Aiko body is good at conduct heat, do you consider to add/solder copper cooling fins to the bone and capture the heat form the oil?
Keep ideas coming !
