Aiko and anime Empty Aiko and anime

Post  Aiko Fri Aug 22, 2008 8:09 pm

Hi

I love watching anime. I have been watching anime since we got our first TV set in Japan.
I remember watching robot show like Cho Denji Robo Combattler V.
The good old classic.

In case you are doing, I also like watching chobit.
Aiko as Chii cosplay.

Post  Vicious Tue Sep 30, 2008 11:22 am

I just finished watching Chobits a few days ago. And I thought "I wonder if anyone has actually made anything like a persocom".
Apparently so.

The name "Aiko" wouldn't happen to come from Renkin San Kyu Magical Pokaan's Ai-chan/Aiko, would it?

Oh, chobits was a wonderful manga, though I didn't like the anime quite as much. I was wondering if you have read and seen both and if so which one do you like better? :3

Aiko and anime Empty I have my favorit android anime's

Post  WulfCry Wed Dec 10, 2008 5:02 pm

I also like anime allot it started way back with G-Force
But anime based on androids would be Robotech android singing star JANICE
I also like HANDMAID MAY the main character rival is very funny.
Recently discovered ERGO PROXY especialy episode 16 where the little girl Pino imitate the main character after they been stranded on a desolated place. The series Chobits with Chii was good to watch but the story could be better I liked the little robot more.
Batlle Angel Allita was my favorite and still is and am waiting for Yukito Kishiro number 10 album of the last order series.
Also Project Aiko (the anime)
Not android related but more virtual robots also favorite is Roujin Z and the holographic virtual star Sharon Apple from the Macross Plus serie.

Post  Chroma Mon Dec 15, 2008 12:04 am

Aiko looks so adorable as Chii! Chobits is definitely one of my favorite anime/mangas. Actually, my first thought when I read an article was "wow, it's like a persocom!" I was pleasantly surprised to see her dressed like a Chobit. x3

Aiko and anime Empty Maybe a software sumomo

Post  WulfCry Thu Jan 08, 2009 9:28 am

I guess building sumomo is possible in software then as little robot it could take a lot of time but seeing that aiko is build in a three months
With the right research on small components maybe it would be possible. You should post a question if someone knows about tiny actuators the processing core should not be a problem either. With the proper software for such a small doll could also do the trick I've read in this forum how some are experimenting with chatbots software. I'm optimistic about this idea everything is possible I believe.

Aiko and anime Empty Maybe a software sumomo

Post  captquazar Fri Jan 09, 2009 3:27 pm

Dear WulfCry, I agree with you. I believe this is the most practical application within the limits of current technology.
Both as a software Avatar or as a doll sized robot. Sumomo's personality / AI would reside either on a powerful home PC or on an internet server or both. In the case of the Doll 'she' would operate within range of the house Wi-Fi. For the robot you could use Pleo parts (the currently most advanced toy robot) Wii motion sensors and digital camera eyes with Ultra sonic range finders. Their would be a local processor for data IO and compression / playback via the Wi-Fi.
Sumomo could also exist as an internet Avatar Chatbot or Cell phone application. Just like in the TV series Chobits her primary function would be as a personal assistant. Google's new voice command cell phone search plugin is an example of the core functionality. Also thanks to new Google AI technology Sumomo could also act as a 'Universal translator'
Providing real time translation services via a cute friendly User interface. Of course Speech to Text and Text to speech technology is vital to this implementation. (e.g. Dragon v10) The Knowledge base would consist of cute stuff for Sumomo's personality and an expert system to provide all the usual answers of a contact manager (CRM) and PDA, Plus the net search capability. All the necessary technology exists NOW. All that is required is a dedicated effort of systems integration for the Doll version, the Internet version, and the Cell phone version. Note this matrix promotes sales and advertising word of mouth. The internet version with Avatar would be the easy start point to build the KB. In Europe there is audio stream "tone of voice" analysis software that could be used to make the chatbot emotion aware. This is a primary need for any actorbot such as Sumomo. She must be able to resonate with the user's emotional state.
This would greatly facilitate the bot's ability to appear lifelike. Face recognition technology could also be used to capture the user's expressions. A great advantage of the Anime / doll implementation is that it avoids the Uncanny Valley psychological issues. Imperfections in the personality and gestures / expressions of Sumomo due to technical limits can be minimized.

So anyone here volunteer to make sumomo. I would, but I am out of money. You are right all the technologies are there already.... simply putting together....

Aiko and anime Empty building Sumomo

Post  captquazar Fri Jan 09, 2009 9:31 pm

Another more mobil version of the Sumomo doll could be based on cell IO rather than WiFi. YOu could actually use Sumomo as a cell phone by talking at her face. All IO would be by voice command with cute remarks added by the chat AI. Net searches and Gps location requests would be responded to by plain english voice output. Think 'Barbi' or 'Ewok' for girls and 'transformer' for boys. If you include face tracking and a moving walking body with powerfull cell phone guts inside the hardware would be around $500 to $1000 US. Remember the AI is at a remote server with the cost split between 100s of users. Just another cell app user fee. AKA cash flow.

IF you guys really want to see Sumomo doll walking around......

Buy me a sumomo doll from Japan, and donate about $500..... I will have sumomo walking around with BRAINS basic loaded it in.
$500 will buy me small motors, micro vision, and micro controller, and a simple mainboard.

If you want to see "wow".... just give me a sumomo doll and $500.

Very Happy

P.S. How tall is sumomo...... I can't rermember off hand...

I like the Chobits Anime more too, alone because Episode 4, when Chii goes shopping panties with Sumomo, i never must laugh that much on a Anime. At the Manga this Scene is too short and not nearly that funny. And i can't hear Chiis so cute "Chiiii" at the Manga. Crying or Very sad

I've finally seen "Cyborg girl" aka "Boku no Kanojo wa Cyborg" its a good movie the humor is great and the actress does the cyborg part very well the story uhm is weird its about her but the connection between her and him is quit odd. from past to future either way its a good movie.

Also seen the DearS serie good old anime humor same old same to of the genre girl robot blank memory falls of transport is very dumb meets even the lamest , perverted lower then average boy's, Girl / Boy issue and entourage obnoxiousness in the end all gets fine, Very nice anime good characters although the master / slave thing should have been master / servant based much better and political correct. but its an anime go figure. LOL Rolling Eyes

Post  drakke125 Wed May 06, 2009 12:17 am

Seeing her in the chii outfit kinda threw me off, but not in a bad way o.O i dunno, felt a bit weird, to be honest, sometimes when I see pics of her, her face makes me feel like she's a real Chii with dark hair or just a really really young girl and I can't even tell how old she is, I'm just assuming that she's darn young......any more pics of her in costumes and I'll be posting "wow, she really loves to cosplay (or more like, her creator really loves to make her cosplay O.O)
