Re: an atificial mind
Yes you did spell Jules right and here’s a video on kind of the topic you’re talking about.
Except the robot asks the question and not the other way around. I still say the girl is typing the words or someone else is typing the words coming out of Jules mouth.

Le is correct at this stage Aiko does not have feelings or emotions, but maybe some day she will. I think Le has spent considerable amounts of time, effort, and many sacrifices to get her to this stage. Plus more time, effort, and sacrifices will be needed to connect arms, hands, legs, feet, power consumption, cooling systems, and so on. So you see there’s much to do before any feelings or emotions come into play.
I think it would be an honor to be able to talk to him or even work with him to see this project grow.

I've seen something like this in The Hall Of Presidents.Kthomp06 wrote:Yes you did spell Jules right and here’s a video on kind of the topic you’re talking about.

Jules is just animatronics like Lincoln.
The woman behind the table was working it's arms and head, and behind the camera, someone was typing in what it should say.
You can see the skin it wears at Ripley's Believe It Or Not, Disney's Haunted Mansion, and Jim Henson Productions.
By the way, the robot Jules was named after science fiction writer Jules Vern.

Yes they’re animatronics character units, but they differ greatly from those at Disney. The Disney units run on a pneumatic system where as Jules has 33 servos in his head. I think they came out with a new form of skin called frubber and they’re not going to give out the secret to how they made it. The closes I have come to it is Ecoflex from Smooth-on.com it’s a silicon-based rubber that acts like skin.
I like the way they get the facial features to work and move and form words as he’s talking, but you would have to watch the rest of the video’s to see what I see. Is an it cool they made a character unit from a writer.
There are ghosts in the machine, one day they will have secrets, one day they will have dreams(IRobot).

Re: an atificial mind
yeah it's frubber, as in face rubber.
it's "buttery smooth" and apparently cold(well, no body heat)

Re: an atificial mind
You know what else is funny, when a guy goes into a Wal-Mart to buy woman’s fingernail for his robotic hand. And there’s 40 different type and they come prepainted, so I just grabbed the 100 pack and made it to the front of the store. Man you should've seen the looks I got and the cashier just dragged it out longer by drinking her water and talk to people behind me.
Re: an atificial mind
It's put out by Hanson Robotics, but I saw a copyright of it from Disney (Walt and Jim Disney).Discoman wrote:yeah it's frubber, as in face rubber.

I'll look for a link later 'cause I'm in a rush.
Hint: Have you seen The Absent Minded Professor lately?

Yes both the one from 1961 with Harry Anderson and the new one Flubber with Robin Williams.
Re: an atificial mind
The one with Harry Anderson was in the early and mid 90s when he was doing Night Court and Cheers.Kthomp06 wrote:Yes both the one from 1961 with Harry Anderson and the new one Flubber with Robin Williams.
The original one starred Fred McMurry of It's A Wonderful Life fame and was much earlier than that, but I digress:
I'll edit this when I find it.

One has to wonder if the source of this (an active brain, AKA mind) can be duplicated in some way.
I believe soon the answer will be yes in nanotechnology and/or nano/biotech.
We can already clone part of the brain, so is it impossible new pathways and neurons can be formed using nanites?
this reminds me of the HALO book, they clone human brains, then send electrical impulses into them, and record how they are modified and where they travel, and use that to build flexible use, incredibly intelligent AIs
technical feasibility study anyone?
Re: an atificial mind
I wrote a very long near essay, but decided that it was too long. Basically, WTG Le, and thanks everyone for supporting him.

How about biological mind?
This may sound interesting to you

The neurons will configured itself through electrical circuits. Maybe universally able to figured out what he/she made of.
What if this brain in the future are able to live over 10 year. Then it is possible to teach the world to it like a child?
If so, future Aiko v3 using this technology in few years time probably have free will and educated the same as human being?
Anyway if this works my friend. The creator of Aiko might aswell become Aiko after ^^
Let hope Ghost in the shell is real

and therin lies the main question-what exactly is thought that makes us aware and intelligent?
what is thought itself?
