Soft Robotics Empty Soft Robotics

Here's some thing I came accross tonight. Perhaps I can use some thing like this instead of servo's for muscles.

Soft Robotics Empty Air muscle

Unfortunately it still uses air. Maybe a normal air muscle would be better to replace a servo.

Hi, and thank you for the replies. I considered air muscles but they are to big for fingers and need an air compressor to operate them. I also considered muscle wire but that get hot and I don’t want any thing hot around silicon because it will burn and smell bad. I was considering hydraulics for upper arms, legs, and neck. For the fingers I’m looking for a polymer that contracts when an electrical current is applied. Or some thing of that nature to the tune of ΒΌ inch long even if it doesn’t lift that much it could be combined with other strands and lift more.

The other thing is to place the actuators in the forearm:

and connect the fingers through wires.
