A robot able to quick slip- turn
Amazing...
I wonder if this robot will be able to perform the Moonwalk someday...
It's short, but very nice to see because nowadays the walking bipedal robots perform weird movements to turn or chang the direction of their movements.
This robot ( I think I've posted something about Wabian2 before) is able to perform an almost human turn.

There is a book on mentorbots that discusses human like walking and the challenges and ideas on how to implement it that you might want to read. Impressive turn from the robot, but just look at how many joints it had to enable that.
And with your other post, just imagine what that would do to a sillicone foot, unless the 'bot wore shoes.

Re: A robot able to quick slip- turn
I've put it more like a robotic news, not exactely as an example for Aiko.
But I imagine Aiko and her other sisters and brothers will need to wear shoes.
Maybe feet can be made in a mix of materials so : the feet sole can be made of polypropylene ( durable and resistent) and the skin of feet surface can be made of silicon.
About hands I've foud that prostetic hands are made of vinil. So maybe a robot needs more than one material to build it's skin.

Yes, I will make Aiko wearing fake shoe for walking.
There is no way, I can't program walking wearing high heal shoe.
Wearing high heal shoe required greater concentration on centre of gravity.
That is why Honda Asimo and Waseda robotic have flat feet.
