A possible substitute of HD for Robots
HDs are the usual way for big storage in computers.
But what about robots?
A robot will walk, move, shake, maybe run or jump ( someday) and what about the HD?
It is frail and can break with such movements and consequently breaking your robot.
But if HD would be substituted by a chip? A flash memory?
What about a flash memory able to run 6.5GB of information in 70 seconds?
And what about a memory able to store 2TB?
That's what Taiwan's Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI) proposes: a USB 3.0 Thin Card measuring only 3*1.2*0.225cm.
Maybe a similar dispositive can be one of the elements to solve the problem of miniaturization of hardware for humanoid robots and also have a fast and resistent component for a robot.
What do you think about this guys?
Do you think that's the way?

Re: A possible substitute of HD for Robots
Sounds useful. Is it THE way? Well, I'm not a futurist or psychic so I can't say if that will be the future or if some alternative will appear.
Sounds promising.
Sounds promising.
Re: A possible substitute of HD for Robots
A HDD in a moving Robot is a stupid idea today and a bottleneck in every modern computer system. I don't know how big a storage should be for a robot but if its a human sized robot, than that should not be a big problem, there is enough space for flash storage in it. More important is speed and a good backup system.
