Funding Options

As an American I can't speak for how the Canadian government functions, but in the states, the Federal government grants funds to both the public and private secotors for research on technologies that could provide benefits to mankind. I would think that the Yumicom has potential to advance both medical sciences (artificial limb advancements) AI, and overall, robots that could be used to advance human life. Under those doctrines, the US Federal government would issue grants to any American working on such a project as Aiko.

I can't see it being terribly difficult to show how the Yumicom can advance human life. This makes me wonder what sort of similar programs are out there in the Canadian government that could assist in financing Project Aiko. While I realize that Le wants to do this himself, and for himself as his dream, I can't help but wonder if monies were to flow his way the climb to the top would be a little easier.

This is the same reason, why Canadian's doctors and Nurses go to the States for job.

Kinda depressing considering the VAT and other government imposed taxes north of the border up there, one would think that the government has some money to give out. Hell down here, the feds give money away like it's going out of style.

Someone has thought of this very point, making a robotic dog and a robotic cat as companions for the elderly and aid for sick children (generally cancer and Parkinson's patients) who need someone to care for.
Artificial limbs wouldn't be made using Aiko's limbs, for they have advanced in that technology already (can move limb with thought).

Robot dogs.... Sony had tried that. It went very well the first few months.
After that downhill. Their robot department close down a few years ago.

I thought they were still using them at several of the hospitals that cared for the elderly in Japan. I recall watching a report on NHK about the current state of the project last year while in Tokyo.
