Aiko V2 new name.... suggestions!
Hi.
Ok, working very hard on the new softwares and aiko new faces v2.
If everything go well, I am hoping V2 will be done end of the month or mid of April.
The new faces is designed by a person from Asia, I will give full details, when it is done.
Initially, I thought of making the same faces for V2, but decided to make a different face therefore, we should have a different name.
Female Oriental face, 153cm, long hairs.
Yes, more facial expression, and I will integrate tear duct into her eyes.
Anyway, new name .... suggestions.

Japanese?
I don't know the language, but maybe some anime influence would do.
Something romantic perhaps.

Hi Le,
Nice to know you both are doing a great work at Aiko's face!
Well, I suggest you Sayuri as her new name.
Sayuri means "little white lily". --- She is white and small: 1,53m . I have 1,54m! haha
And I like the sound ... Sayuri
If I were a japonese girl, I would love to be called as Sayuri.
So what so you think about Sayuri?

Innocent or sleezy?
Maybe it's a sweet innocent name, but you gotta think how articles, the media, and regular Web jerks will think of it.
They'll put it together as I did saying she's just a sex robot, and sex is not at all what she's about, let alone lesbian sex.

How about...
Ashiko
Ashita = tomorrow
ko= child/one
or something name with little sister.... since she is aiko sister.
it doesn't have to be japanese name.

Child of tomorrow
If she eventually will be marketed to Japan as well as have Asian looks, I just thought Japanese might be better for her.
Child of tomorrow?
It sounds too Disney.
She's meant to be a companion and care giver, so I think she should have a more romantic sounding name.
Can she flirt yet (use of body language and vocal inflections)?

Well, I couldn't find a name that means little sister and that could have a nice sound ( some of them are very hard to pronunciate).
So I'll give some sugestions:
Beatriz --- is a latin name. Means the girl who brings joy .
Mari --- Japonese --- means: beloved girl
Sakura ---- Japonese ---Cherry Blossom.
Lily--- American --- Means Lily
Clara --- Latin --- Means Bright and famous ( we want Aiko to be famous, don't we? hahaha)
Ashlynn ---- Gaelic --- Means Dream
Alice ---- French ---Noble kind; of the noble soul
Paola--- italian --- Means Small, humble
Gloria--- Latin --- means Glory
Samara ---hebrew --- means " a gardian"
Wendy ---means friend
Nina --- Brazilian --- means a nickname for Menina that means "girl"
Ok... to much names ...
bye for now

beloved girl
I love your second suggestion.
Besides being Japanese, it just fits what she is.
I was gonna say Sakura too from the anime Sakura Diaries (flirtatious 16 year old girl has crush on 18 year old cousin who doesn't remember her), but I forgot what the name meant (17+ rating for rape scene).
I like yours better.

I think Sayuri sounds the best.
And please Le never ever listen to the bullshit what Arti says, never, he has serious paranoia and maybe other problems, I consider him as some kind of troll who doesn't know he's a troll.
other names I think sound good:
Aya, Ayase, Ayumi, Chiaki, Chizuru, Haruka, Himeko, Kagami, Mio, Misaki
the name doesn't need a special meaning, no one gives a shit about that, it's only important that the name sounds good

Re: Aiko V2 new name.... suggestions!
@Arti - Sayuri is a verrrrrryyyyyyy traditional japonese name. And allways a name will have some joke in some lenguage. An Exemple: Mitiko = in portuguese ( my lenguage it sounds like m-e-t-e-c-u. And it is a very bad expression here - I will not translate or write it in the right portugese way. Very ofensive.) So if you are going to put a name that will never sound bed in any lenguage, it is almost impossible!!!!!)
Your name maybe a joke in some lenguage too! Remember it!
@Ico I also love Sayuri this name sounds like music. I also like one of your suggestions: Ayumi! I have a friend with this name!
In all these names I've said, I also prefer Sayuri.
There are a lot of beautiful names. And I agree with @Arti - I also thing that a japonese, chinese or korean name is better, because she will have oriental face.
@Le Ashiko sounds nice too. Child of the future. Really means what she is, and what all future robots will be.
Oh Gosh! But my vote goes to Sayuri. Remember: we can build some models and name them with a lot of our sugestions.
One question: Is it possible to the owner change the robot's name? I thing it would be nice and interactive to allow the owner to chose the name to his/her assistent. Is it possible?

Joke names.
Gilda, you're right.
Just about all names have a joke to them used by school children or the immature.
My real name also has a joke to it (not spelled the same).

I don't think so.
1: It's a possibility, but she's not really an android.
2: That's cutting out most of her target audiance.
3: Never!
4: (see 3)
5: (see 3)
6: (see 3)
7: Too long and confusing, and will not be open source.
I think Le was looking for an actual person's name (3 is already taken anyway).

I would call her Destiny, like the ship in Startrek universe, not very original but I like it.

I think they are looking for real names, not acronyms...
But Aifa sounds like a croatian name.

Thinking about the question... Or rambling?
I agree that any name should reflect the target audience. If the main aim is going to be towards the japanese market, then it would make sense that you would use a japanese name.
Personally, I think that the suggestions are good.I particularly like Sayuri and Sakura, although I think the AI=Ai pun should be continued. I would like to point out though that the abbreviation-name that Arti was probably thinking of was 'Cos-Mos', from Xenosaga which I think is short for 'Combat ...'... Although now that I think of it, the spelling might have been Kos-Mos. Anyway, acronyms are probably not a good idea because they sound too militaristic, [especially ripoffs of the combat android's name, cough cough] while the aim of the project is companioncubes robots.

Yes... and we know that there are crazy people who see "Terminator" and "The Matrix" in everything about robotics...
If we can avoid it, so let's avoid this intolerant crazy guys.
I Think Aiko needs a name that ressembles kindness and trustworth. So it will be a step for people not feeling afraid of robots, we must remember that for some people she will be very uncanny.

Hi
It looks like the new face will be at least one month delay.
Probably won't be ready unit May.
Problem with the silicone, have to order more.
Anyway, the name I like so far are...
Sayuri
Ashiko
Sakura
Clara
Nina (I like Nina, but my dog name is the same, it going to confused the dogs.)
Some more name suggestions...

Re: Aiko V2 new name.... suggestions!
Sayuri seems like the best, IMHO.
my suggestion is simple: Ai
means indigo or love
plus, artificial intelligence-AI
it's like a two in one name.

Re: Aiko V2 new name.... suggestions!
Ai sounds not bad, but... Ai and Aiko?
Sayuri is a nice name. But i like Sakura too.
Ashiko is Aiko with sh... i think the name should sound more different.
My ideas: Ayumi, Kazumi, Kumiko, Naoko, Yumi

Names
Yumi doesn't sound that bad.
What does it mean in English?
Kuzumi sounds like Kasumi from the Dead Or Alive series.

Re: Aiko V2 new name.... suggestions!
Personally, I like Sakura. It's a little generic, but it works.
Yumi... Well, here's the meaning from 20k names-
YUMI (由美): Japanese short form of names beginning with Yumi-, meaning "cause-beauty."
It also has a bonus of sounding similar to Yumecoms, so it would continue the naming scheme started with Aiko.
