This guy took the online machine learning class offered by Stanford University, and then used knowledge from there to build a neural network controlled car.

I mention the extra info as some may be interested in taking the class themselves, as it would be useful to anyone hoping to create a robot with substantial intelligence, such as something like Aiko.
