It's simple but somehow interesting.
If you know an other anime style robot, post it.
I would like to see more anime style robots in the future Smile

This is an example how an "anime" robot should not look like or behave:

Sounds like the original Miku Hatsune, so only the Sound Quality are bad. The only interessting in this video is the doll.

Here is the original song: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nsusxNHpNak&fmt=18

Miku Hatsune is a virtual Character and her Voice is Computer generated (Vocaloid) from recorded real Voicesamples. For Readers here, that dont know it. Wink

Real - Anime style robots Empty Mecha Musume

I found this funny japanese art style http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mecha_musume
Real - Anime style robots Mechamusume1
( http://images.google.sk/images?hl=sk&source=hp&q=mecha+musume&btnG=Vyh%C4%BEad%C3%A1vanie+obr%C3%A1zkov&gbv=2&aq=f&oq=)
It is a combination of girls and military vehicles.
This is how weapons should look like Smile
Some of the mecha musume "concepts" are interesting from the robotic point of view and it would be interesting to build or see such robots Rolling Eyes

The last one, I find it interesting yet freaky at the same time.
I saw one of them at the store, something about the eyes that I find it weird.
It remind me of the movie child play, chucky running around with weapon.

Real - Anime style robots Empty OS-tan

Post  ico Sun Dec 27, 2009 12:29 pm

OS-tan is something similar to Mecha Musume. It is the combination of cute/moe anime girls and operating systems, mostly Windows.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Os-tan
http://ostan-collections.net/imeeji/index.php?cat=2
( http://www.wired.com/culture/design/multimedia/2007/04/gallery_mascots?slide=10 )
It remembers me somehow on Chobits - os-tan could be a persocom in the style of the OS it runs on (at least no one would complain about the memory usage : )
Real - Anime style robots OstangirlsReal - Anime style robots Normal_Xp-tan_wix
XP-tan is the best chick and she uses a lot of memory : )

Japanese Windows 7 has its own official "Nanami Madobe"-tan mascot:

Laughing a funny remix
More Win7 otaku videos at: https://www.youtube.com/view_play_list?p=7118909E481A17C9

Unfortunately the virtual anime girl isn't a part of the theme, it is fan created - but the geeks from Microsoft should think about it for a moment Smile
The Nanami edition was only available for the first 7777 pre-orders in Japan - stupid Microsoft people, they should make an official Windows 7 Nanami Madobe edition available for everyone even with such a virtual character - it would be such a hit Shocked When she says "system error" you cannot be angry with her. Razz Every geek, nerd or whatever would want one, anime fan or not Smile ( They should pack a Nanami dakimakura with the Japanese edition, it would make otakus very happy ) The people at Microsoft are so slow, remember how long it took when they added tabs to Internet Explorer.

I think it would be great if your OS would have a personality. Then maybe it wouldn't be so frustrating to get error messages or something alike. The next step could be a Hand Maid May type robot that would help you with your OS and occasionally clean up your desk and keyboard Smile
Or like Wowee's Chatterbots
but in a look of a cute anime girl.
...something like Alice the virtual maid,
but in real:
If Linux would get an official cute virtual character (not that stupid penguin), it would be much more popular even if it is so user unfriendly and it's a horror to install something.

The Linux-tans are not the best but at least Ubuntu got a Manga: "Ubunchu"
see: http://seotch.wordpress.com/ubunchu/
Real - Anime style robots Ubunchu-header
Episode 01: “Ubunchu” has come along!
Episode 02: CLI with gnomes!
Episode 03: Still not the time for the Forum?

theme download: http://nebs66.livejournal.com/1036607.html ( http://www.megaupload.com/?d=SQEG5XL4 ) or WinXP ver. http://www.kickasstorrents.com/windows-7-madobe-nanami-os-tan-for-win-7-english-version-t3130099.html
you can extract it like it would be a zip file, then you have access to all the sounds and wallpapers -then it can be used even for XP, but the wav files have to be converted to a wav file again (i.e. with http://www.formatoz.com/), because the original wav files XP cannot play.

the virtual -tan girl can be downloaded here: http://www.mediafire.com/file/mr3mzogmdrn/nanami.rar ( source https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-tu2ExyTt4g&feature=related )

Real - Anime style robots Empty a dakimakura robot, WTF ?

Post  ico Thu Jan 07, 2010 6:53 pm

Hi, I looked at this picture and I had a crazy idea: how would a dakimakura (i.e. see) robot work ?
Real - Anime style robots 31557_9_468
A funny robot in the shape of a pillow. The mechanics and electronics would be inside a pillow, so it would be still soft. The otaku could change covers for it Smile It would be bendable, it could talk with him, it could move/bend by itself a bit, it would have a camera (somewhere). It would be some crazy robot but I wonder how otakus would like it Smile

Or look at these case mods:
http://www.walyou.com/blog/2009/04/12/anime-girls-computer-case-mods/

If the dakimakura robot would have a mini personal computer inside, it could be called otaku's first persocom Smile

Real - Anime style robots Empty Training and Sleeping with Hinako

Post  ico Mon Jan 25, 2010 9:22 am

Hi, this is not directly about anime robots but it shows the posibility of the market...
according www.sankakucomplex.com:
A fitness video Training with Hinako offers otaku the chance to keep fit with the aid of an appealing anime girl.
Hinako will lead the viewer in a variety of daily exercise routines, assuming he can concentrate and keep both hands free.
Exercises include squats, sit-ups and push-ups. In order to provide variety in what are intended as daily exercise videos, some 30 variations are included, utilising cosplay and similar.

The virtual maid is like the ps3 eye pet software very cool technology,
The pillow stuf are freaky and weird.
Hinako uhm (^_-) who want that.
The windows 7 theme is certainly an playfull interresting new way
of having an o/s for looks more fun.
Especially knowing that windows 7 has powerfull tech support tools
to use for robotic development also I think this is microsoft best O/S ever,
Well only if u use the Pro and ultimate version.
Do not go for starter , home or premium they mis out on good stuff.
I will have a post about what interresting stuff is in w7 to use.

I have to disagree with you there (from a privacy standpoint).
I hate all things that record information without your consent, and in this case without your knowledge of it happening.
Window Media Player 11, IE7, Bing, GoDaddy, the MSN network (included in Windows 7), and Google Chrome (which includes Google Books, Google Street View, Google Earth, Google Desktop, and gMail) all do it (Google Chrome shows nag screen for Youtube subscription)!

Hello all.

Thanks to someone i found this topic

I got good news.

First of all: i'm making my own miku robot *humanoid* * life-size planned on starting 21 june however due to parts not being here on time, (i'm almost sure they won't make it on time) and alot of appointements suddenly i start 25 june.

Second: I Figured out how they did the miku live hologram for a while now.
Im Recreated it at home with success.

I did it quickly though and I'm going to do it in alot bigger scale later on and with the better special screen *I know where to get it and make it.

However here's a *not the fully correctly setup (as I said I did it quickly)

Real - Anime style robots Mikulifewebtech

And i made my own Miku model which can surely be compared to the one of miku live (not the one in the picture)
It's still not fully finished (worked on it for months already)

Just for fun: Some off the stuff i got from miku: (I'm Planning on buying a hell lot more, (this is all what i bought after 2 anime conventions)
(which were just one week from each other)
(so in short: bought in 2 weeks)

Oh right and this is the making of mikufes (nearly the same as miku thanksgiving):
