well, someone made a robot...
But who? and does it do anything else?
For those who wonder what I am talking about, a mystery robot appeared and had some fun poked at it in this video. http://www.cracked.com/video_18325_the-6-least-necessary-sequels-to-viral-videos.html
Yup, looks like someone has a gynoid started. I have no other details.
Enjoy!

I hate to be the first reply to my own thread, but here is another gynoid that someone made. Hopefully someone will be inspired to do better than this one.

That was made for a few grand and in not a very long time. I don't know your financial reserves, but quite a lot of people may be able to afford making that. What I am skirting around saying is a gynoid can be built on a budget. Yes, she will show it, but it is still impressive.
Although what has been accomplished with aiko is still the most impressive. I've seen university bots funded by huge amounts of money eyes that are less interesting or impressive than aiko.

I'm sorry to tell you, Robot Betty9 is not a real robot ("robot" implies self transportation).Discoman wrote:I hate to be the first reply to my own thread, but here is another gynoid that someone made. Hopefully someone will be inspired to do better than this one.

You can find these items at any electronic toy store.
The Website Cracked looks like an offshoot of Cracked Magazine, which has fictional situations, unless you think Wonder Woman's sex tape is real.

He admits it!

According to the URL in this link, he wants her to eventually become a fully functional entertainment robot, however I can see her only as a remote control Actroid.

Well, I didn't even know it's name, much less anything else.
Although I do know that cracked show just takes stuff off of YouTube.
Not to sure about the mobile bit, after all, industrial robots are barely mobile, and that is only if they have a moving floor mount like xyz robots do.

The industrial robots you speak of are programmed each day or programmed once for repetitive actions.Discoman wrote:Well, I didn't even know it's name, much less anything else.

This is not the true definition of a robot.
A robot must have at least simulated intelligence enough to transport (not just move it's limbs) itself across the floor, generally bipedal.
A fembot must look and act feminine in either detailed or basic terms, even if this means a cleaning/cooking bot with an hourglass figure and no face.

Re: well, someone made a robot...
I'm using the first definition. #2 is usually specifically described as an android or gynoid, while #1 is the commonly accepted definition of a robot. If you aren't sure about that point, go ahead and ask ABB or Fanuc. Or just use google to define 'robot'
ro·bot
noun /ˈrōˌbät/ /ˈrōbət/
robots, plural
1) A machine capable of carrying out a complex series of actions automatically, esp. one programmable by a computer
2) (esp. in science fiction) A machine resembling a human being and able to replicate certain human movements and functions automatically
3) Used to refer to a person who behaves in a mechanical or unemotional manner
- public servants are not expected to be mindless robots
