Actroid DER3, a another fembot project.
There was Actroid der1, 2 and now 3.
Here are the newest videos with it.
ACTROID DER3 HQ at the end of the video while she's singing, she moves a leg.
ACTROID DER3 introduce her self
Actroid der3 Just singing!
Lee you got competition
I have a question though, how come Actroid's arms move a lot faster than AIko's arms? It has better servomotors or is it because of battery?

Actoid Der 3 vs Der 2. When will they walk?
Note expression control has improved as well as lip sync. Inertia counter motion dampening has improved.
One leg is now free to move; still not free standing. Arm range of motion and fluidity has also improved. Overall coordination has also improved. Uncanny valley still immediately apparent. ( I suspect the free leg is providing most of the counter motion) Not bad for one years work.
Any one seen a recent Replyee video? How would you say the two compare? Last year a different Japanese company developed legs that walked with a natural gait. Apparently 'hip motion / swing' helped with several balance issues. Goes to show that mother nature does not waste energy on anything without good reason. These are the first robot legs with hips that can pivot. What has happened with those? What news of the Asimov robot? Last I heard it could pick itself up off the floor after falling. Still all moves are preprogrammed. It has no 'situational awareness' that I know of. The next bigest problem to solve is software based. (Not that balance / center of gravity management is easy) That is spatial enviroment real time processing. i.e. situational awareness. Navigation of imediate surroundings / optimal path processing. Most of the problems have been solved by different companies. The trouble is these solutions are tightly held secrets; no one is sharring or colaborating. I would not be surprised if the Chinese demo something first because they are stealing everything from everybody via the net as fast as the development occures.

Re: Actroid DER3, a another fembot project.
Hi
The Actroid moves using "air" not motor. It's use mp3 voice actress. The actroid doesn't have internal vision system. It uses external vision camera... which I think it pointless.
It would be nice if Aiko can moves smooth as the Actroid. Hopefully, version 2 can move more smoothly.

Actroid der 2 was build over two years ago, they should have made it walk in this time considering it's just animatronics and no A.I.
That figures, but such a system using compressed air has to take up all the interior space inside the robot so it's not feasible for the future.Aiko wrote:

yes I noticed that also, Actroid DER has absolutely no artificial intelligence, I didn't knew about the external camera though , that really is pointless.
Lee you have a big head start with your B.R.A.I.N.S artificial intelligence software ,now make a body to measure up to it's software and you got yourself the first humanoid robot.

DER2 vs DER3 and the Uncanny valley.
Dear Kal-el, Yes you’re right, I forgot Der2 has been around 2 years. I think real walking is not one of their design goals. They just want a life like mannequin. It took Honda ten years and millions of dollars to get Asimov to walk. That has a lot of potential android builders running scarred. My only interest with the DER series is how well they are dealing with the uncanny valley issues. Pneumatics whether via compressed air or oil does have advantages over motors. Except for the compressor, very low heat generation. The actuators are simple, reliable, apply more force, and take up less space than motors. The downside of course is the complexity of all the tubing and not quite as precise motion control.

Honda Asimo took 25 years with over 250 millions US dollars....
This is why most company making android really have no intention making them walk, simply because of money.
I think compress Air pressure is the worst technology to put inside an android, because it is not portable.
I still believe actuators are still the best choice because it has a good feedback force.
Actroid Der 2 is very popular in Japan and around the world. If it works... don't fix it...

Aiko and DER-3
I think that if Aiko software and DER-3 body you would really create the most human-like robot you've ever sean and maybe they can make DER-3 walk
